Operation Bridesmaid #1

A couple of days ago one of my beautiful Facebook friends got engaged. Being the massive girl that I am, I did a big 'squeeeee!' when I saw the news pop up in my newsfeed!

TODAY, she asked me to be one of her bridesmaids! If I were to tell you that we've never met, you may think it is a little odd. Maybe so, but I consider her to be a very close friend. The wedding is in 2015 and in her words.. "I know we've never met, but we have three years to hangout!". Good point, no?

So yes! I'm going to be a bridesmaid! A busy bridesmaid! I'm going to be going to lots of wedding fairs, tasting lots of cake, helping with the invite designs, making the hair flowers for myself, another bridesmaid and three flower girls, making all of the buttonholes, wedding favours AND doing all of the bouquets! I'm mega excited!

Sophie and Ed (the gorgeous couple) are lovers of all things 1950's and American, so you know it's going to be pretty special!

I'm not sure how much I can give away right now, but I can tell you this - The planning has begun! Roll on Saturday 4th July 2015!

Congratulations, you wonderful pair! Thank you so much for asking me to be part of your magical day!

Tea By The Sea!

This post was drafted two months ago, but I had a problem with my Blogger account and we've just moved house.. Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I'm hoping to get back on track with blogging now!

You may have also noticed, the name of my blog has changed! All will become clear, very soon!

As usual, it rained most of this Bank holiday weekend. My fella and I were stuck for something to do on the Sunday and decided on a trip to Great Yarmouth, as it's only a short drive from Norwich.

We drove along the front, looking for somewhere to stop for lunch. And I spotted a super cute little tearoom.

We finally found somewhere to park and after stopping briefly to watch a seagull stamp on some grass to make his lunch appear, we arrived at Hoorah Henry's!

We took little time in choosing the Afternoon Tea from the menu and even less in clearing the cake stand it came on (well, mostly)! The only downside we found to this gorgeous little, retro themed tearoom, was that we weren't given a choice on which sandwiches we would like. Sadly, this meant that we were only able to eat one tiny cheese and tomato triangle each as I'm allergic to tuna and my OH doesn't eat fish at all - so that cancelled out the salmon, too!

We did, however enjoy the freshly made scones, yummy jam and cream, little sausage rolls, quiche, sliced cakes and two pots of tea!

The two ladies who served us were very polite and chatty and the music varied from the 50's to the early 70's - which pleased me no end! I fell in love with the decor, too. All in all, it was very "me" and I'd recommend it to everyone!

Sorry for the lack of images, I took loads but I can't seem to find the rest :(

I can't find an official website, but if you Google Hooray Henry's, you can find lost more information on the B&B side of it.

You can find Hooray Henry's at: 71 Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2DQ.

On the hunt for: New knickers!

Okay, this is a slightly odd post but it's one that has been in my head for a while!

Since I lost a bit of weight, I've had trouble finding new knickers. All I want are some simple cotton one, that don't sit under my belly, don't fall while I'm at work and cover my bum!

So yes, I'd like your recommendations! Where would you suggest for cotton high-cut briefs, that can be bought in sets?

Dupenny: Pretty Prints!

I first became aware of Dupenny when I was flicking through a friends magazine - I can't remember which, but it was the likes of 'Company' or 'More'. They had included some gorgeous burlesque plates in a home feature and I instantly fell in love.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got to the website, but I was pleasantly surprised! It's jammed with gorgeous goodies and super easy to use!

If you're looking for something to add a touch of class to your home or a card for your Burlesque Bestie, this is the site for you!

I treated myself to this gorgeous burlesque print for my bedroom. I'm yet to find the perfect frame for her, but I'm absolutely smitten! I'm considering buying another two, and having them in a row, above my bed.

I also found a use for the handful of 50s housewife postcards that came with my print! I popped one in a stand-up frame and it now lives on my windowsill, next to one of my framed Laura Manfre postcards!

To top it all off, everything on the site is printed in the UK!

If you're stuck for something to get a loved one this Christmas, pop over to the Dupenny website! They've been super kind and given me a 10% discount code for all of my lovely readers! Just enter 'retro' at the checkout!

Enjoy,

Lou xx

It's been a while..

It's been too long! I've been so busy with making the new house look like home, my new job, spoiling Ava and having cuddles with my wonderful new man! Okay, I can't complain!

I don't really know how to get back into my blog. So, I'll just do a little show and tell of a few bits I've recently bought!

This freaky wee fella, is the result of a challenge, set to me by my boy, Steven. We recently had a rummage in my local Oxfam shop and he found/fell in love with a creepy little naked doll. It was about palm size and you can turn it's head all the way round. Anyway, the sweet little old lady at the till told him to take it, explaining - "I don't even know why that's out! No one in their right mind would want it! Oh..". Haha.
He happily took it, wrapped a noose-like device around it's neck and hung it from the rear view mirror!

Steven went to Scotland last weekend, for a family function and set me the challenge of finding something even tackier than the ugly, naked baby, from my local f;ea market! I did it, right? AND, the Scottish doll is from the 50s! He may be ugly, but he's a wonderful piece of history!

I also got this gorgeous cat tapestry bag from the flea market! Brand new, too! I'd been stalking some on eBay for a week or so, but they were all £18 plus. This one, was FIVE POUNDS! I couldn't help myself! Crazy cat lady? Me? Maybe, just a tad..

Yet another, 'I HAD to have it' item.. The walls in my bedroom are bare, minus some postcards around my window! I think, this may go above my bedside table.. There was a 'Make Tea, Not War' one too. I think I'll get that to go over Steven's bedside table, too!

I have loads more to share and tell, but I'm in a silly amount of pain with my stupid tooth/jaw :(

I hope you're all well!

Cat Scan.

My friend and I found a website, dedicated to cat scans. No, not medical ones..

I think this image of Ava says it all..

I love it so much, I'm considering getting it cut and printed in three sections and putting it on my wall.
